I filed my taxes on 2/12 and received almost immediate rejections (separate) that both the IRS and California rejected my returns; I "typo'd" last year's adjusted gross income.
TurboTax helped me fix and retransmit, and I received an almost immediate confirmation that the IRS accepted my Federal return. After 4 days I have still not received anything from the State of California, and when I log in to my return to check the status it still says "Pending."
Advice on what to do? How can I confirm that the CA transmission when through?
Thank you.

Wanted to post/share an update: I received an "ACTION NEEDED" (in all caps) text and email from Turbo Tax with instructions to check my federal deductions because intuit "detected a potential issue in my California return due to an error in our software."
I followed the instructions but nothing needed to be changed; I didn't have to add my county as some who posted to this string apparently did. I clicked "check my return", and saw a note on screen saying it had not been transmitted due to a potential error with the software! I resubmitted my return, and it's back in "pending" status.
I wish intuit/Turbo Tax had been more forthcoming with information instead of providing untrue information, blaming it on the state, and creating all this drama over misinformation. Thanks to those of you who joined the discussion and shared info, especially @mslatinlady!
California has a known issue accepting returns. Be patient.
Thank you ...
What do you mean "California has a known issue accepting returns?" I've NEVER had an issue in the past many years with California having such a delay in accepting returns! As a matter of fact, as I was logging a comment on here today, I got a text from my bank that the Feds deposited my refund already. But, still, my California return is still showing up as "Pending" when I check the status of my return in TurboTax. This is ridiculous.
I agree, this is the first year I had this issue (I filed on the 13th) but I don't know if it's an all around issue or a turbo tax issue. The FTB website doesn't give a good answer either, but it does say "extra processing time may be necessary". I hope we get this resolved soon.
I posted this question and received a response that CA is having known issues. However, I just called the Franchise Tax Board, and was told they are not experiencing issues, and that e-filings are and have been accepted for several days. They claim there are no issues.
If you (intuit) believes there are issues, maybe you could/should post an issues board--or advise people not to file until issues are resolved. Or, are you not providing info and updates because there are no issues and/or you don't want to put something erroneous in writing?
It is unnerving waiting for an "accept"--especially after my "reject" came almost immediately after filing (I transposed two numbers on my federal return).
Can you please share the real story on CA accepting returns--or not?!? I'm one step from calling the local consumer reporter for a straight answer.
I'm having the same issue regarding Cailf confirmation of my Turbo Tax e-filing. I filed on 2/13/21 and have yet to receive a confirmation of receipt. IRS responded within six hours. How does one get ahold of a Turbo Tax representative?
I successfully transmitted my STATE and FED return on Jan 28th. The IRS accepted my return on Feb 10th. As of today, CA has STILL not accepted my return.
Another bizarre twist to the story.....
I transmitted my Son's FED and CA STATE returns on Feb 8th; the IRS accepted on Feb 12 and CA STATE accepted his on FEB 13th!!! (Why/how is his State return accepted while mine is not.......even though I filed about 10 days before his was filed????)
I went to the CA State Franchise Tax Board 4 hours ago to check status of my State filing.
After entering several pieces of personal info at the website, the response was: " we have no record of receiving your tax return"
To LuLuBelle: Maybe you should call CBS or NBC's investigative reporter and have them look into this and air it on the news !
Below is the Calif. FTB response to my query about getting a confirmation of a Turbo Tax e-filing.
Kyle[1:44 PM]:
There is nothing on our end regarding being able to accept California tax returns. California tax returns have been able to be filed since the middle of January and I have seen that returns that have been filed and have completed processing for the 2020 tax year. I would advise contacting TurboTax for more information. I have heard this issue occurs when TurboTax is submitting the State and Federal tax returns at the same time, but you would need to contact that entity for more information.
Does anyone know how to contact a Turbo Tax rep.?
Support # I have is [phone number removed] or 797-4625 Hold Times are exceedingly long. I filed with Turbo Tax on 2/2/2021 and Fed was excepted on 2/11/2021. Still Pending on Cal acceptance. Very disappointed with Intuit
They removed the Phone Number [phone number removed] & 797-4625
they keep removing phone number, it is an 800 number 624 9066
I am in the same situation. I received an accepted message from Turbotax on 2/13/21 for my federal return, but as of today (2/17/21) my state return for CA is still pending. If CA has been accepting returns since January why have so many of our returns still pending? It seems to me that the problem is with Turbotax. What is Turbotax doing about this problem?
OK, I just got off the phone with Calif Franchise Tax Board (FTB) after nearly a 2-hour wait on hold. The FTB rep said she did NOT see my California return in their system. She said she's getting lots of calls from TurboTax customers. I then asked her what are my options? I asked her whether I can print a hard copy of my California return and mail it to Franchise Tax Board? She said, yes of course I can mail a hard copy. I then asked her, What happens if the FTB receives the hard copy, then the FTB receives the e-filed one? She said not to worry, if they receive a duplicate, they'll simply process one and not the other. She said that once the FTB receives the hard copy, an employee simply "scans" it into their system. But she assured me that only ONE copy (either hard copy or the e-filed copy, whichever they receive first) will be processed. I told her that I may wait 2 or 3 weeks more to see if my e-filed return is processed. ALSO (and this is VERY important), I asked her does California FTB "pull" our returns from the Turbotax servers? And she said NO, they do NOT. Turbotax "pushes" (sends) them to the agencies (whether it is the IRS or the states). So these TurboTax experts on here are NOT telling us the true story. Here's the address for the California FTB: P.O. Box 942840, Sacramento, CA [social security number removed]. I sincerely hope and pray that TurboTax sends our returns over to California FTB asap. But at least this is an alternative. Blessings to us all !
