In trying to complete our City of Grand Rapids return the field titled Total Income is not allowing us to enter the amount earned. The software is not carrying forward our information like it normally would? Any suggestions.

To clarify
are you able to look at the city return to see if the income is listed?
The screen you are showing seems to be reporting EXCLUDABLE income, the income you want to subtract out.
Did you need to subtract any from the city return?
Look at the screen shot again. Note in the area where you report total income there is not a box to fill in the amount. The description that states excludable is part of the questions series to see if you are a resident, non resident, or how many hours you worked in the city. Some of the income maybe excludable. You cant complete the return if you cant fill in the income. None of the info from the Federal Return carried over. Which is strange. In prior years it did. Is this a glitch in the software?
Yes I can see the return and there is no wages listed for either of us. It did not carry forward./ I need to list the income first and then answer the questions. As I have said in the last 2 notes of the screen shot it does not have a field to input the income. The excludable income is based on how you answer the questions related to your total income, but the total income for each individual needs to show up first.
There is another screen that should give you the opportunity to say that none of the income is taxable to the City of Grand Rapids. If your work location is on 44th Street SE, your work location is not in the City limits of Grand Rapids. There should be additional questions asked and I found that those additional questions will be coming after the review and TurboTax will say Fix-It and ask the additional questions for the City Return. Unless you live in the City of Grand Rapids you would not owe any tax to the City of Grand Rapids.
This screen alone does not really give me enough information on how the City's return is being calculated.
Note: I am from the Grand Rapids, Michigan area and am very familiar with where Steelcase is located. I am also very familiar with the City of Grand Rapids tax form.
Actually the office my husband works at on 44th street is in the City limits. He is a non resident working in the city.
The income then would not be excluded. It would be taxed at a non-resident rate. Are using TurboTax Online or TurboTax Desktop. If you are in TurboTax Desktop you can switch to Forms mode and take a look at the City return and see if it has carried the income information forward.
Have you completed a review? If there is an amount missing in that spot it will come up in a review to fix it.
