Non resident of GA. Only income I had was sale of inherited house when parent passed away. Sold house 4 months after inherited for the "stepped up" basis - Sold for $240K, date of death value 240K. Submitted Fed and GA taxes but noticed the data for the G2-RP is incorrect on the GA form. Shows income of $0 instead of 240K. I will amend my GA tax return. So my question is - how do you properly annotate the GA return to show zero gain on the sale. I can correct the G2-RP data (changing from $0 to $240k) but where do you annotate the deduction for the sale since there was no income. FYI - I had to pay the 3% tax when sold ($7200) and should get that back since there was no gain and I had no other GA income. Thank you!

It depends. The Georgia (GA) 500 form starts with the federal AGI, which would end up for GA as a zero income since you had no gain. You will not show the $250k on your GA tax return. First review your complete GA tax return before amending by looking at the .pdf copy.
If you didn't enter the GA state withholding originally, then you can enter that on an amended tax return using the steps below.
If you review your GA tax return, you should see Schedule 1, which shows the amount of income to subtract from the federal which is carried over to page 2. You may also see the information on Schedule 3.
If GA has any questions they will ask, otherwise they will release your refund, if you included it on your original return.
Thank you so much for the reply. Still confused (maybe) on the issue.
Ga income does show as $0. GA refund shows $7200
GA requires that I input the $240k sale/$7200 withheld that was provided on GA Form G2-RP on Form 500 page 3 (Income Statement Details)
I did not include the withholding of GA taxes on my federal return. Do I need to amend my Fed taxes or is it ok leave it off? I put the info (Other Income Taxes Paid in 2024) in as you suggested and it does not change anything on Fed or GA returns. That's why I left it off - I don't want credit for the GA taxes paid.
I do not get a GA Sch 1 (whether I put the withholding on my Fed return or not). I also don't itemize my Fed return. The GA Sch 3 does not show any info reference the sale of inherited house.
Thank you again for the insight and help.
