Full time student. Moved from OH to MA.

I am a full-time college student.  Moved from OH to MA.  Made some earnings in OH before moving to MA.

NO income in MA for the year 2021.

Do I need to file MA state tax return?  and If no, will this impact my MA financial Aid in school?

Thank you,

-J

You don't need to file a Massachusetts tax return since you didn't have any income while living there even if you are considered a part-year resident. You would not be considered a resident if you were there temporarily while going to school and planned on returning home once finished with school.

I can't answer the question regarding student financial aid as I'm only qualified to answer tax related questions.
