Filing taxes

I am IHSS provider and lives with the recipient.  I received  the W-2  and the box 1, 2, & 17 should are zero. Tax preparer told my I do not need to file taxes. But Because I don’t file taxes I did not receive any stimulus checks.  Is there any thing I should do to receive the stimulus check?

Filing taxes

If you did not file 2018 or 2019 tax returns then you will need to file a 2020 tax return to claim a Recovery Rebate Credit for the missing round one and/or two stimulus payments.

When completing your return enter your personal information and then enter the W2 information in the "Wages & Income" tab. You can put $1 in box 1 to allow the e-file.

Eventually you will arrive at the "Federal Review" tab.  There you will be asked if you received stimulus payments and if so, how much.

If you are not automatically taken there you can select the "Federal Review" tab or use the "search" function and type in "Stimulus" and use the "Jump to..." link to go directly to the stimulus questions.
