My wife and I moved from Iowa to Minnesota this year. We are filing a joint return, but when I started completing the Iowa return, it states, "Since you're filing as married filing separately on this combined return, enter Wife's portion of the Iowa minimum tax items on the following screens, if necessary." I did not change our filing status to "married filing separately" and I don't know how to calculate her percentage of our total taxes. What do I need to do?

I accidentally filed married filing joint when I should of filed married filing separately. What do. I do
If you have already completed and filed your income tax returns, the only way to correct it is to prepare an amended tax return to correct your filing status.
If the other spouse attempts to electronically file, please be aware the return may be rejected as it was already filed as a joint return. If this occurs, they will most likely need to mail their return in to file as the amended return most likely will not be processed before the filing due date.
