My husband and I moved from California to Alabama July 31st, 2024. We sold our condo in CA immediately after the move (in Sept 2024), which we had owned jointly and had lived in as our primary residence for the past decade+. Our sale minus expenses is well under the $500,000 tax limit so we should owe nothing. Our CA state return correctly recognized the amounts and did not tax us for the sale as far as I can see. However, our AL state return is wanting to tax us several thousand dollars. In the section "Mark below if you do not want to include this gain/loss in your Alabama income" do we put down "exclude" for the sale of our condo? Thank you for your help.
