Turbotax is erroneously instructing me o file a DC FR-147 to claim a refund following my wife's passing and refusing to file the DC D40 electronically. All DC withholding was paid on my 1099, and my wife had income from joint investment accounts but paid NO DC withholding; this information appears on the TT worksheet. The DC Tax customer service office says Turbotax instructions are incorrect. Can I suppress the the request to file a DC FR-147 so that I can file DC taxes electronically?

I do not see a way to suppress form FR-147 from within the step-by-step interview.
I do see that in the state review, TurboTax tells the taxpayer that it does not support the e-filing of the form.
What you might try is deleting the form after you have completed everything on your return, then trying to file without returning to the DC interview.

Thank you but this just confirmed what I discovered. Although I am a TT user for MANY years, I find its handling of Additions and Subtractions and Instructions on state tax forms (DC, VA) to be weak and incomplete or erroneous in the case of DC FR-147. At a minimum, I expect TT (1) to provide a COMPLETE set of state-specific Additions and Subtractions and (2) providing Filing Instructions that match what is provided by state tax booklet. For example, DC filing instructions contradict what is in the state booklet! TT says to include a complete federal return whereas DC instructs NOT to send the complete federal return, and TT description of what should be included is at best unclear. This is very disappointing.
