e-filing new york

I have to e-file my NY return, but I cannot e-file my federal return due to certain forms it requires. How do I separate the two in the filing choices so that I can e-file my New York return?

You cannot e-file a state until the Federal has been e-filed ans accepted. If you mail Federal then you must also mail the state.
