Yes. If you are paid by 1099-Misc (box 7) or cash, not reported on a W-2; you are eligible for Ohio's Business Income Deduction (BID), formerly known as the Small Business Deduction (SBD).

The tax form requires reporting what 'entity' ie name of the business you own. I am an independent contractor and my income is reported on a 1099-misc, but I do not have a registered business that I pass my money through. Am I sill eligible for the SBD? If I am, what do I list as my 'entity'?

Thanks!

If you are an unincorporated sole proprietorship, your business entity name is your personal name, unless you register a d/b/a ("doing business as") name with your state or county.  (You may want to look into doing that for various reasons.)

(The IRS does not actually care under what name you operate the business.  If you need to list something for Ohio, list your own name unless you get a d/b/a.)
