I got an email stating that I had to do a Nebraska State Tax return. I live in Wyoming, Wyoming does not have state tax. I had a savings account in Nebraska, I got a 1099-INT for $33 of interest income. I reported the $33 on my federal return. My understanding is that I do not have to file a Nebraska State tax return because this is interest from an out-of-state bank. I called and talked to a representative from turbo-tax. They didn't know the answer, then they told me no, then they told me yes. He then just kept trying to give me a code for $20 or 20% of a state tax return. So, now I even more confused. Below is where I found that I shouldn't have to file, but I want confirmation because I got the email. This is my first year doing my taxes myself and it's becoming more of a hassle than it's worth. Turbo Tax is becoming more trouble than it's worth. Please tell me yes or no on whether I have to file Nebraska State tax. Thank you.

You don't need to report interest income from an out-of-state bank account on a nonresident return. It only needs to be reported on your federal and resident state return.
Double confirm. No Nebraska non-resident tax return required.
I still have an old Credit Union account in NJ, and an online Ally bank account based (I think) in Michigan.
Do I then end up having to file MI and NJ non-resident tax returns for that interest????
NO WAY ! It is just considered taxable income for my resident state....IF my current state has an income tax.
