deleted one W2 from different state, but it still shows in state return

I worked in two states: IL & WV.  I completed and paid for fed, and two states but I did not file yet. I went back and tried to correct my Fed income and deleted WV W2-based income. But the WV income still shows and TurboTax won't let me proceed because it forces me to review WV state-related income. I am stuck. I can't delete state return because TT tells me that I paid already & won't let me delete it. Worse yet, when it reviews my state return, it discovers errors and shows me the raw form to figure it out. I need help! Thanks

Start by putting that W-2 back into your return.  You do not complete your state returns by deleting information from your Federal return.

Depending on your situation with the two states, you might be filing part-year resident returns if you lived in each state during the year or you might be able to claim a credit for taxes paid to another state if you were a resident of one state and non-resident of the other.

Either way, enter all of your income into your Federal return and then work through your states.  The state programs will help you allocate the income that needs to be taxed by each state without removing it from the Federal return.

OK, I followed your instructions and added WV W2 back. I still think state income & taxes are incorrectly calculated. I am a resident of IL but worked 4 months in WV for 2019. But the income and taxes, both on IL and WV returns, are added together and taxed fully in both state. My income in IL should be taxed on IL income only, and my WV income should be taxed on WV only, right? why does TT include both incomes making me obligated to pay more taxes in each state.

Both Illinois and West Virginia use the total federal adjusted gross income to determine your tax rate- then that rate is applied to the state income only.  For WV, See Schedule A and for IL, look for the Schedule NR.
