Good Morning. I lived in DC part of last year (also lived in Alabama so I filed a return for both). This year I moved to Virginia and only lived in DC for 40 days. Will I have to file a DC return in 2023? Thanks

Virginia has reciprocity with DC. This allows Virginia residents who have a limited presence in DC to be taxed only by Virginia.
If you meet the reciprocity criteria, you are exempt from filing requirements and income tax in your state of non-residence (DC).
For more information check: Virginia Tax
The income you earned during your 40 days as a DC resident is taxable by DC. The income you earned after moving to VA is taxable by VA.
