Yes, you should be able to electronically file a NYS pat-year resident return. In searching through the NYS website, I could see no restrictions for you filing a part-year resident return.

My wife is from New Zealand and doesn't live or work in the US. The turbotax program requires a number for a social security input. Can I override this efile?
