When you prepare a federal return using TurboTax, the information flows from your federal return to your state return. If you enter income that is exempt from MA tax, the software will use your state's tax laws.
Where do you enter that information on the Federal Tax page? I am not seeing any
place to list that information.
You do not enter anything about being exempt. You just allow the software to use your state's tax laws. What income are you concerned about? Why do you think you are exempt from MA tax?
As a retired Massachusetts state employee I am exempt from paying Massachusetts state taxes. First time e-filing since my retirement in 2013. Never had this issue before.
