I was not a California resident for any of 2024. I did not update my address with my employer, and they withheld California SDI for half of the year. Turbotax is not calculating my California SDI refund for 2024, which I believe should be returned to me in full. For all of 2024, I have lived in states with no state income tax (Florida and Texas). Two questions:
1) I've noticed that because I have one employer, perhaps I have to get the refund from my employer directly. Is that correct? If so, what information do I have to give them? Is there anyway to avoid getting the refund directly from my employer?
2) How does that affect how I file my taxes on TurboTax? Do I need to input that information somewhere?

1. Unfortunately, you must contact your employer for the refund. See Claim for Refund of Excess California State Disability
2. In TurboTax, you may want to omit the Box 14 entry.
Thank you. Do I need to wait to speak with my employer, or can I file today and just omit box 14? Will anything they have to say affect how I file?
You can file your return with no problems. It will not change anything, your employer would not be required to send a corrected W2 so your tax filing will not be affected if you do not include it on your return. @NonCaliforniaResident37
