Happening in MI as well. Same exact loop. Can’t do anything about it. Can’t find anything on the forums.
Also happening for WI; is there a form we are waiting for the individual states to update regarding Covid 19 withdrawals from 401k? How will we be notified when its updated?
I am in the same situation...NY return!
Same issue and all the more frustrating because it’s holding up my resident state return (NJ) and federal. We moved out of NYS after taking a COVID distribution and elected to pay COVID distributions over three years. My understanding though was NYS decoupled the payments from the tax code so we’re paying on the whole distribution for the state this year (NY loves its money), so I don’t know what, if anything, TurboTax needs to do special other than report the $X in income from the withdrawal.
Anyone from Intuit, or another, have an answer regarding how to resolve this? Are we just totally stuck?
I just spoke with a Turbo Tax Rep and he said that this should be updated sometime tomorrow. He said it had something to do with form 8915-E that went active today but was halted sometime this afternoon because there is an issue with it ( I assume with states?) So hopefully tomorrow everything will be corrected. Take it for what you will!
Any update on this error? I see the federal returned was updated to process the Covid Relief Distribution but not the NYS form.
Once updates have been finalized, they will automatically update within Turbo Tax. We do not have a date of the release just yet. Be sure to check back on a daily basis for the update! Thank you for being patient with the process.
Are there any updates on this issue @Anonymous ? I've been wondering how many others have had this issue, and haven't seen any sign of a resolution yet. Thanks.
Same issue with my NY state return... however I was able to file the federal return... we just sit and wait..lol
@jetmech516 How were you able to file federal? I just keep going in a loop where I’m asked to “fix” the NY return and can’t do anything else- but I already paid for both state returns and federal so maybe that’s why?. I’ve got a federal and NJ return to file as well and NY is holding up the whole thing with this issue. Hopefully there is resolution soon. Painful to wait on this.
I just filed the federal first... it let me... when i did state it told me under the review to fix the worksheet... and when I skipped it and transmitted the state it came back with the message to fix the worksheet
Thanks - that must be why then. I went too far in the process and so I’m stuck until the issue is resolved for NY.
@Anonymous Is there an update on this? I try twice a day to file my NY State return and continue to get the error message. I have already paid TT to file electronically, and would like my refund of NYS taxes. Any update would be appreciated. Thank you!
FYI - for anyone else who is completely stuck with E-filing per this issue, I found a way to e-file everything but NY.
Go back to review / file. Select “File by Mail” and you’ll get to a screen where you can change how each return is filed (default is e-file). Just change the NY return to “Not Ready to File” and keep everything else as e-file. When you hit continue you may have to go back and alter your refund / charge information, but the tool will let you e-file Federal and other state returns. Fed and part-year NJ are done for me.
It looks like it’s pretty easy to go back in and e-file NY once this is resolved. Fingers still crossed this is resolved soon.
