Hello,
I am eligible to receive a kicker from OR state this year. My kicker amount shown on the OR Dept of Revenue is much higher than the one calculated by TT. I looked at my 2020 tax return (which I prepared with TT) and saw that the OR tax (form 40 line 22) before credits is higher than the one used by TT in 2021. The kicker amount computed with that number matches the OR Dept of Revenue number.
Any help to resolve this is appreciated.
Thanks

For 2021, your kicker is 17.341 percent of your 2020 total Oregon personal income tax liability, form 40 line 22. You are saying the program is not doing that for your return? What about the Kicker Credit worksheet? Is there anything that could drop your credit?
You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions:
If you are online, go to tax tools>tools > share file with agent > 6 digit number pops up.
If on desktop, go to online >send tax file to agent > number pops.
Reply with # here and @AmyC please. Also please verify that these numbers came from last year's return being done with Turbo Tax and that you checked the Kicker Credit worksheet line 1 and let me know what Form and line that number is coming from for last year's return.
Hello AmyC,
Thanks for your reply. I uploaded the diagnostic file. Its number is 933740.
The program is using a lower number for my 2020 liability and hence it is coming up with a lower kicker credit. If I use the actual number on form 40 line 22 and multiply by 17.34% I get the same number as the one from the Oregon kicker tool.
I reviewed your kicker credit. The amount listed in the data entry field in the program is the amount carrying to the worksheet. That is the amount being used to multiply times the 17.34%. The answer is then carrying to your main form 40 line 36. So the program is flowing correctly, the issue would be the amount entered/ carried over.
Please follow these steps to correct the issue:
Hi AmyC,
Thanks. Using your instructions I updated the Kicker credit entry to use the 2020 tax from OR 40 Line 22 and got the correct amount.
I was expecting TT to correctly import that data from my 2020 return when I started the 2021 return. If I had not verified the kicker amount at the OR Kicker site, I would not have known. Perhaps there is an issue with TT importing this data from the previous year? I suspect other people will run into this issue.
I am confused by the Fed 1040 SR and other info from the Oregon file.
There must be something wrong with the way TT is handling this information. I just got a notice telling me that they had to correct my return. Line 36, 38, 40 and 42 were calculated incorrectly and that I need to pay an additional $422.74. Some of the information from previous years may be importing incorrectly.
