2021 Maryland Passive Loss Error

The program won't let me file because of an error on the Maryland Passive Loss form.

I have no idea what that is but it tells me that there was some change on the federal side of things and Maryland hasn't yet issued a correction to their side.

Anyone know when Maryland will issue a correction?

I do not know when this issue will be resolved, but it is a known issue within TurboTax and is under investigation.  So sorry for the trouble.  Thank you for your patience.

Why is TurboTax generating form 8582 when I have no passive activity income in the state of Maryland...

Hi, I have passive losses and ran into the same problem. Please let me know when Maryland will provide the updated forms or if it is something Turbotax has to clear.

That is odd, the error cleared up for me and I filed 2.17.2022.

Not sure what is going on there.

@dd20874 I'm sharing with you a link to all of the state forms for use in TurboTax Individual Tax Returns.  You can first select the platform you're using, and then select the state of Maryland for more information.

thank you, Kate. I will check out your link. keep looking but the form 8582 Activity Description error message is "the form is not ready to be filled due to a change in the federal form. it should be available soon. I will check your list.

I did not see the form listed. It is form that Turbotax typically provides...Form 8582. I guess I need to wait till it is ready.

@dd20874 I didn't see that form listed either!  So I've posted for TurboTax Moderators to help us out with this one.  It may be that TurboTax doesn't include that form at all.  In that case, maybe you'd need to file directly with the state of Maryland.  Have you filed with TurboTax before using Form 8852?
