I am trying to enter my 1099-G "State of Income Tax Refund" but the system says it already has it. How come?

I am trying to enter CA numbers. Where do I see if these have been entered?

Information from your prior year transfer over to your current return.  The information is on your Federal return, when you start your state return, any information needed from your federal return is automatically transferred to your state return.

You can check to see the amount that is entered.

  1. Federal Taxes
  2. Wages & Income
  3. Scroll down to Other Common Income
  4. Select State and Local Tax Refunds on Form 1099-G

OR:

  1. With your return open in TurboTax, search for 1099–G (don't forget the dash!) and then select the "jump to" link at the top of your search results.
  2. This will take you to Did you have any of these types of income? Answer Yes.
  3. On the following screen, check the first box State or local income tax refunds and continue.
  4. Answer Yes to Did you get a state or local tax refund? OR click Update

You might want to contact TurboTax support, they might be able to see what the problem is.  This is a user to user forum so no one can see your information.

I should add, if your state refund is not taxable, the program will not produce a Schedule 1

Thanks Bluedeb. The issue is that when I try to enter the amount, I get the following message: "You already have entered amounts for this state or locality."
Where is the actual form would I see this?
