Why wont the program accept my total for box 14 from my 1099R?

Try backspacing over the entire field to be sure there are no extra spaces before or after the entry, and then re-enter.
If there is an entry in Box 14, there will also need to be an entry in Box 15. 

If this does not resolve the problem, please do tell us if there is an error message and if it happens when you enter the Form 1099-R or during the Review of the return. We cannot see your return and the more details we have, the better we are able to assist.

ANNND ....some states require a value in box 16 of a 1099-R if box 14 has a non-zero $$ amount in it......even if box 16 is empty on yoru paper 1099-R form.

The fix is to copy box 2a into box 16, if box 2a has a non-zero value in it.

If box 2a is empty and 2b marked "Undetermined", then you need the Federally-taxable amount of box 1 copied into box 16  (that is usually just the box 1 value, but not always.)
