Why was I not given credit for my rollover partial return (within 60 days) to my IRA when I even entered in the net amount for box 2a on the 1099-R?

I took a distribution of $10,000 and returned $7,000 within 60 days. The 1099-R shows the same gross amount in boxes 1 and 2a because we can still make contributions until April 15, 2018. I answered all the TurboTax questions regarding the rollover including box that asked for the amount of the rollover. When the income is shown, it is still on the gross amount.

$10K will show in the income column as gross amount always shows up there.

For example is I moved $200K from one IRS to another it will show as $200K in my Income column (which just means it has been entered there) and the return on 15b line would show $0 in my example if I had no other 1099R.  It just shows it has been entered.

Can you go to the Forms mode in the upper right corner and tell me if only the $3000 shows as taxable income.  on line 15b?

The proper amount was shown on 15b (along with my regular monthly withdrawal totals).  Where the problem lies is that it doesn't show up on the working papers where I do my entries.  Thank you

I understand and I'm glad to see it on the 1040.  My next question refers to the running tax position box at the top of the working form.  Is that based (using my situation) including the $10,000 or only the $3,000?

If you are referring to the Refund amount (or balance due) it is taking into account what is taxed, the $3,000 in determining the taxable income.  I am going to put some of this in the answer box so someone else knows I am helping you.  Thank you

You may put any or all of it in the answer box.  I am about to check the box below that says, "Don't notify me of new answers."  Thank you for your quick response and pointing out the forms box as I wondered how to do that.

Under the Cares Act I did a 60- day rollover of the RMD I received. My 1099 shows only the total disbursement to me, there was nothing to show that i had refunded the total disbursement by the rollover. What can I do to show that the disbursement to me had been returned by the 60-day rollover? Will Turbo Tax be issuing any guidance on how to handle this?
