After the 1099-R entry screen, enter the information so that MO will recognize the teachers retirement as nontaxable.

  1. On the Select Your State screen, check the Missouri box and click Continue.
  2. On the screen, Where is this distribution from, mark the radio button for Public pension...
  3. Make sure the Missouri distribution amount shows in the box and click Continue.
  4. On the screen, Was this distribution from a Qualified Plan?  Click the box, From a qualified plan.
  5. Go through the rest of the screens, answering the questions.

The amount of your retirement should show in the Exemptions and Deductions section of the MO-1040, line 8.
