Why is my NY state return showing taxes owed on my SS benefits? NYS does not tax NYS or Federal pensions

Yes, the NY IT-201 tax return does pull the taxable portion of your social security benefits to your NY tax return, and you should see the Federally taxable amount of your social security benefits on your NY IT-201 tax return on line 15.  Then, under New York Subtractions, the taxable social security is subtracted on line 27, Taxable amount of social security benefits. The NY IT-201 takes your Federal adjusted gross income and then makes additions and subtractions to arrive at your New York adjusted gross income. The taxable amount of your social security benefits is a subtraction on the NY IT-201 tax return.

It seems to be working for SS. But my NYS and Local Retirement System pension - which is considerably larger - is not being subtracted. It has worked in past years. It seems to have changed this year after an update
