Why does form 1099-R summary show double the amount I entered for health premiums?

I entered $2585 from the 1099-R as the amount paid for health insurance, but it shows $5170 on line 26d of the 1099-R summary form.

Go back into your 1099-R and make sure it wasn't inadvertently put in there twice.

To do that:

  1. Go to Income.

  2. Select I'll choose what I work on

  3. Go to Retirement Plans and Social Security

  4. Click Update by IRA, 401(k), Pension Plans (1099-R).
