Why did TurboTax auto-populate my Social Security 'state-handled' benefits at $1044 when none of my statements have this value?

Should I replace it with my actual received SS amount or $0? (Or leave it alone?)

Some states allow your to exclude the taxable amount of your Social Security, which is always less than the amount you received.

The amount you received is on line 6a on your 1040; the amount that is taxable is on line 6b.

If that doesn't help, then tell us what state you are talking about and where these faux SS benefits are printing on the state return.
