Where would I find the RMD information?

Helping my father-in-law prepare his taxes. He is saying that he does not receive a statement for the account so I do not know how to find the balance of the account. He also said it's from a pension plan, and he stopped working at the company in 1982, if that helps.

For pensions the RMD is the total amount of the pension received for the year, box 1 of the Form 1099-R.
