When filing a state return as a part year resident should I prorate numbers (such as pension income) for the number of months or does TurboTax do this automatically?

TurboTax does not do that manually. There will be screens asking for you to make any part-year adjustments when you go through each state program. Just follow the steps and instructions in the state programs.
