You still need to enter the 1099-B data to claim the loss. This will cause you to update to Premier version as Deluxe does not handle 1099-B's.

Form 1099-B needs to be entered into your return even if there is only a loss reported. To enter the form in your return:

Go to Wages & Income

  1. Scroll to Investments
  2. Select Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other (1099-B)
  3. Answer Yes to "Did you sell any Investments? Answer "Yes" to "Did you get a 1099-B or brokerage statement?"
  4. Enter the information on the 1099-B
