TurboTax double counting withholding

I filed my return in April and received a notice from the IRS about withholding on my 1099-R forms. The information was recorded correctly but TurboTax recorded the withholding amount on both lines 25b and 25c on Form 1040. Line 25b is correct but there appears to be no way to eliminate the duplicate data on line 25c.

Hmmm...Sorry, but probably not a TTX error that I can see.

Otherwise, there would be millions of folks who had this problem.

99% likely it was a mistaken entry made by yourself somewhere along the line,

__________

Here's where it would have been entered.

_________

(Desktop software only):

IF using TTX desktop software, you could open the tax return in "Forms Mode" and then open the "Tax Payments worksheet."

The extra entry is likely on line(s) 18a, b, or c of that worksheet.

That entry would either have to have been made by you in Forms Mode.

....OR...more likely, you mistakenly entered that total amount as "Withholding not already entered on a W-2 or1099 ".  (that's on the "Deductions&Credits" page, in the "Other Income Taxes" sub-section.

For those who may have used TTX online?..... Most likely, you mistakenly entered that extra total amount as "Withholding not already entered on a W-2 or1099 form".  (on the "Deductions&Credits" page in the "Other Income Taxes" section of the program interview.
