How to report data in Box 1g for 1099-B?

My 1099-B has data in Box 1g.  When I enter that data on the 1099-B Worksheet I get an error message—Form 1099-B Worksheet (name of mutual fund company): Wash sale loss disallowed—3 is only for wash sales. Do not enter for X (name of mutual fund sold).

How to report data in Box 1g for 1099-B?

You would enter the wash sale amount in Box 1G that was reported to you by your broker.  The adjustment code for wash sales is just a "W". You would need to select that code and then proceed through the remaining questions.

   **Different Adjustment Codes:

    • W= Wash sale
    • C= Collectible
    • D= Market discount
