software is skipping Social Security questions

The software is not asking social security income questions. It is only asking if I live in a foreign country that doesn't tax my SS income. How do I enter my Social Security income?

software is skipping Social Security questions

This is an unusual experience that is happening to some TurboTax users.  If you are using a desktop version of TurboTax, there is a workaround.

You can enter your Social Security income using Forms mode.  Then, delete the entry and revisit the Social Security section in the step-by-step process.  That seems to reset the pages back to normal.

To do this, use these steps:

  1. Click Forms at the top of the screen.
  2. On the left side of the screen, click Open Form.
  3. Enter Social Sec into the search box.
  4. Highlight Social Security Benefits Worksheet and click the blue Open Form button.
  5. Enter a value into Line A for either Taxpayer or Spouse.
  6. Click Delete Form at the bottom of the screen.
  7. Confirm that you want to delete it.
  8. Click Step-by-step at the top of the screen.
  9. Go back to the Social Security section to enter your information.

Please let us know if this does not work to allow you to enter your Social Security income.

Also, if you are a TurboTax Online user please reply back with that which version you are using.
