Social Security EIN?

There is no EIN for a SSA1099.   You are trying to enter it in the wrong place.

.  Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.

There isn't one. You are entering the SSA-1099 in the wrong place.  It goes here (not as a W-2):

Federal > Wages and Income > Retirement > Social Security.

Social Security EIN?

An EIN is not required to be entered for reporting Social Security benefits.  Be sure you are in the correct section of your return to enter Social Security income.

Use these steps:

  • On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
  • This opens a box where you can type in “social security income” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
  • The search results will give you an option to “Jump to social security income
  • Click on the blue “Jump to social security income” link and enter your information
