The year goes by the calendar Jan 1 - Dec 31.  Did you enter a 1099 for 2022 on your 2023 return?  Then you need to amend your 2023 return and take it off.  And need to amend 2022 to add it.  Did you file a 2022 return?  It should not be showing up under 2023 now.   What kind of 1099 is it?  1099NEC, 1099INT or 1099DIV, etc.

You better look at your 2022 and 2023 returns and see if they are right.

How to Access prior year online returns

If you can't get the side menus to open up to access the prior year..... You need to start entering some basic Personal Info in 2024 for the side menu to open up. Just continue a little ways into 2024. I had to go though about 12 screens.

If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online. So you need to make and keep your own backups.

Or request a transcript from the IRS
https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

Or get a copy of your return using form 4506

Yep....you need to be clear about what the years mean.

TurboTax (and all other providers, including the IRS) call the software and forms used as being (say) "2022" software & forms for all income, deductions, credits, etc during 2022.   But, since the year doesn't end until Dec 31, you don't file your 2022 taxes until sometime in 2023......and most tax forms for 2022 are issued to you in the first couple months of 2023.

So if you filed "during" 2023, a 2022 1099form, of some type, that was correct...and TTX will show that filing as being for 2022.

IF Filed On-time

.......2023 taxes are filed in 2024 and are called 2023 taxes.

.......2024 taxes are filed in 2025 and are called 2024 taxes.
