RMD versus Gross Distribution

I have entered the Gross Distribution from my 1099-R.

A few screens later, TurboTax asks for the RMD that was required to be distributed by December 31, 2024.

To the best of my knowledge, the RMD value is precisely what was taken for my distribution. The RMD was not rounded up to give the gross distribution.  I enter that value for the RMD.

I say "The entire distribution was applied to the RMD."

The next screen says, "It looks like the difference between your required distribution and what you took out for this account is X"    Where X is the value of my distribution.

If the RMD was amount X, and my gross distribution is amount X, where is the problem? It doesn't seem to be recognizing the distribution.

Or am I missing something here?

for this question you should answer Zero.

TurboTax has issues with orm 5329 this year.

RMD versus Gross Distribution

I am interpreting this to mean that I should ALWAYS answer 0 to the question about RMD, no matter what the relationship between RMD and gross distribution.

Is this correct?

I ask because for a different IRA the distribution was larger than the RMD and it seemed to accept that without a problem.
