The Turbo Tax form for entering dividend amounts doesn't include sections 2e and 2f, but my 1099-DIV does. How do I enter that?

You don't have to enter the section 2e and 2f amounts. Per IRS instructions, page 5, for Form 1099-DIV, Box 2f. is for Section 897 Capital Gain.

  • Note. Only RICs and REITs should complete boxes 2e and 2f. Boxes 2e and 2f do not need to be completed for recipients that are U.S. individuals.

Embarrassing.  I read the instructions twice without realizing that only RICs and REITs have to report Box 2e and 2f.  It took your answer to jolt me out of my stupor.  Thanks. 😉
