TurboTax asks for a Fidelity National Financial Services (NFS) sign-in during the 1099-B import because NFS handles Fidelity brokerage accounts. If you don’t have a direct NFS account user ID or password, this can cause issues.
Currently, TurboTax requires you to log into NFS as part of the import process to retrieve your 1099-B. Since you don’t have a direct NFS login, you won’t be able to import automatically.
You can manually enter your 1099-B details from your Fidelity tax documents instead. This avoids the sign-in requirement and ensures your information is included correctly.
To manually enter your Fidelity 1099-B in TurboTax Online, follow these steps:
1. Go to the Wages & Income section.
2. Scroll down to Investment Income and select Start or Update next to Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other (1099-B).
3. When asked how to enter your 1099-B, select I'll type it in myself.
4. Enter the details from your Fidelity 1099-B form exactly as they appear, including sale dates, proceeds, cost basis, and any adjustments.
5. Review each entry and continue through the prompts.
