The last few years I purchased Deluxe DESKTOP Windows version of Turbo Tax, yet each year the program says I make our better with standard deduction than submitting my few deductions. This year my tax situation is not that much different. I had a small increase in pay, similar donations to good will and tithes. Should I go for the Basic version this year and save money? The only great purchase I paid for was a new roof, but it does not appear to be deductible (sad to say). Deluxe verses Basic. It doesn't appear I am eligible for the free version. Also, our state does NOT charge income tax, so I would not need any state forms.

Go ahead and try the Free version. If TT finds you do not qualify it will advise you to update to Deluxe version.
If you are asking about the Desktop CD/Download program you can use Basic. But be aware that Basic does not come with a state program download. You would have to buy state separate.
