Beneficiary RMD for NY State

How do I make Turbo tax (premier version) recognize that my spouse and I are both over 59 1/2 and should be eleigible for NY state 20k exclusion on beneficiary RMDs?  What steps in interview or what forms?

Visit the Personal Information section of your return and ensure the dates of birth for you and your spouse are entered correctly.

This did not answer my question at all.  As a veteran Turbo Tax user (every year since first released!)  I am inporting previous years returns and I still review the data and then the generated forms.

Our birthdates are correct, I need to know how to get NY state return to recognize these are IRA RMDs from IRAs we inherited from a deceased parent.

Go into the NY program and you will have to enter your share of the inheritance.

Follow these steps:

  1. Go through NY to Changes to Federal Income screen
  2. Select Received Retirement Income
  3. Retirement Distributions summary screen, select Edit next to inherited form
  4. Enter the  taxable amount, continue
  5. Were you a beneficiary? Select yes
  6. Enter information required

See another post of mine here for help using the worksheet.
