How should I enter the income from the Retirement Systems of Alabama that appears on my 1099-R? I do NOT have to report this income on my state tax return.

Put your 1099r on the return. For your state return it will ask if it came from and not tax it at the state level.

My state return AL Form 40 Sch RS column G is asking for the state ID number. It is not available on my 1009-R from The Retirement Systems of Alsabama [teacher's retirement.]

Where can I find this information?

I was told by TRSA that i should enter the tax ID # of the payer. ##-#######

Enter R000305896. as the state ID number. This should now enable you to move forward in your return.
