line 7a&b correct
line 8 SS shows 0 not reflective of line 11 on 1040
Birth dates (78), ss#'s correct. Have used turbotax for years, no issues - only thought was GA changed how they treated taxable portion of SS
Compared return to 2020 and noticed the big drop in the GA retirement exclusion and in looking thru saw the zero in SS
Then the SS taxable amount should have been entered on the Schedule 1 Line 8. I also receive the GA Retirement Exclusion and on my GA Schedule 1 the taxable amount of SS is entered.

Georgia does not tax Social Security benefits.
States that tax Social Security benefits:
CO, CT, KS, MN, MO, MT, NB, NM, ND, RI, UT, VT, WV
These states offer varying degrees of income exemptions, but four mirror the federal tax schedule: MN, ND,VT, and WV
The taxable amount of the Social Security benefits reported on the Federal Tax Return Form 1040 Line 6b will be included in the income reported on Georgia tax return Form 500 Line 1.
However if you are age 62 or older you receive a Retirement Income Exclusion on the Georgia return. The exclusion is on Schedule 1. Specifically for the Social Security taxable amount it is on Schedule 1 Line 8.
Amount on Fed 6b is correct
Amount on 500 1-8 is 0

Is your Adjusted Gross Income on the federal tax return Form 1040 Line 11 also zero? If so, that is the number that is entered on Line 1 of the Georgia Form 500.
line 11 amount is correct
500 reflects correctly except for SS 1-8

Are you referring to the Form 500 Lines 1-8 or the Schedule 1 Lines 1-8. If the Schedule 1, then how old were you in 2021?

Bingo. Updates ok but deleting state and recalculating it worked. Adjustment exclusions line 8 came out as expected.
Restart or start over fixes computer issues most of the time.
thanks
This worked for me . There must be a glitch in the program or they fixed it. Deleting my Georgia return and then restarting it solved the problem. Now my SS benifits are subtracted from income in Georgia ( non-taxble for 65+years ). Now getting a small refund from the state vs. large tax bill. I never have had a problem with this in the past. If it had not been such a gross mistake I may have thought Turbotax was correct. Always pays to check your return compared to the previous year.
Called Turbo Tax about this. CSR did not know anything about this. I was very surprised that I had to be the one to tell them about a problem. On my GA 500, Schedule 1, Income Subtractions, and me being retirement age, a subtraction of the Social Security Income should have appeared automatically, but did not. I read through the Community Messages and found that I had to delete my State Tax Return and re-do the State Tax Return, for the glitch to go away. Seems like TT should have made an announcement of this glitch....Wondering how many GA State Taxpayers are affected by this glitch? And do not know to delete their State Tax Return and create a new one for the glitch to go away?
@Gardener33 I have completed 5 Georgia state returns and the taxable amount of the Social Security benefits on the federal tax return was excluded on every Georgia state tax return.
Look at you federal tax return Form 1040 Line 6b, is there Social Security taxable benefits being entered?
Yes, an amount appears on 1040, 6b, but does not appear on the GA State 500, Schedule 1 subtractions.
