That is a problem.
Get the employer to fix it and send you (and the IRS) a Corrected W-2.
The tax numbers shouldn't change, but the IRS needs the social security number to match you and you need to make sure your Social Security Account is being funded properly.
IF you are talking about SS income you are receiving.....then, for the vast majority of states, they use the "Federally taxable" SS amount that is indicated on line 5b of the Federal form 1040, not the gross total in line 5a
