My company, a public filer, issues shares of the company as a part of the bonus incentive plan - are these shares taxable ?

Yes they are.  You simply got paid in "stock" instead of "cash".  Everything you need to report, unless you sold some of the stock, is there on your W-2.  The compensation is the FMV of the stock when you received it.  That's also your basis in the GROSS shares you received.
