My 1099r federal tax id has a number but it is followed by a G which the system wii not let me enter

Leave the "G" out. Federal Employer Identification Numbers only include numbers (9 total) and are in the format "XX-XXXXXXX". If your 1099-R has a letter in the Payere's FEIN, it is incorrect and can be left out when entering the information in TurboTax.
