I believe you are talking about the boxes 1f to box 16 on the screen where you enter your Form 1099-B information. You are correct, there is no box 3 that you seem to have on your Form 1099-B.
The IRS standard Form 1099-B does have a box 3 but it is for indicating the investment sale involved collectibles or qualified opportunity funds, neither of which you are referring to apparently. So, you have a non-standard Form 1099-B for which you will to have ask the issuer to help you determine what is being reported in box 3 on that form. Once you identify what is being reported, revisit the Form 1099-B entry screen in TurboTax and search for a question or entry where you can enter that information as required.
Thank you, Thomas.
No. The box asking "How did you receive this investment? Learn More". Where the right of that , a drop down box to choose one in the list. The list missing "Return of capital for fractional shares or cash in lieu:" where merger stated in "Learn more" but it is not in the drop down. I think this fractional applied to my case. Where I have a wash sell.
OK, I would need to see the menu choices to suggest one to choose. I don't see that option in my program, can you give me a list of the options or a screen shot of the drop down menu please?
That third dropdown box is gone last week. May be updated. The 3 box, "Learn More" now is not the same as before. I didn't cope it down and don't remember but I did mentioned somewhere in this forum.
