My wife and I are both over 70. Maryland has a Pension exclusion for those over 65 which effectively subtracts an adjusted amount from social security and other work pensions. Turbo Tax for Maryland has a line entry for "Maryland Pension Exclusion" but the first question is "Are you retired and did you receive retirement income attributable to your service as a correction officer, law enforcement officer, or fire ...". Now our answer to this question is "no." If you say "no" to this question Turbo Tax bumps you out of this section BUT the Maryland exclusion worksheet 13A is NOT only applicable to law enforcement and such pensions.
Some AIs now say that turbo tax does not include the Maryland Pension exclusion and it needs to be entered manually. Turbo Tax's AI first said it includes the pension exemption but when questioned about MD 520 line 10a (which is the line for the amount of the exemption) their AI first stated that the entry was for some tax paid. When called out on the error, the AI admitted it was wrong but continued to claim the Maryland exclusion is included. I don't believe it. Anyone else having difficulty with Turbo Tax's Maryland Pension Exemption?

"Anyone else having difficulty with Turbo Tax's Maryland Pension Exemption?"
What difficulty are you having with the Maryland Pension Exemption? Is it, as you said in another thread, that you believe that IRA distributions should be allowed to be part of the pension exclusion?
Please see dmertz' and my answers pointing out that this proposed update never became law.
