Line 26 of 1040 question

Why, when I input the amount I want applied from my 2024 return on line 26, does it ask for the social security number of a supposed divorced spouse as, while married, I've never been divorced? What makes the TurboTax software think that?

Don't know about your question.  But line 26 is for the amount applied FROM 2023 not if you want to apply some current refund to 2025.  That is on line 36 (did you mean line  36?).

Thanks for response. I am inputting the amount I want applied from my 2023 return on line 26. It accepts number but then asks for SS# of  divorced spouse. I have none, so why did it ask?
