Is it unusual that my return was accepted a week ago and I indicated that the IRS could withdraw what I owe the very next day, but it still hasn't been withdrawn?

How long does it typically take for the IRS to withdraw the money? It seems unusual to me that they wouldn't do it as soon as the return is accepted.

Sometimes the IRS can take up to 10 business days before they debit the account for the taxes owed.

You had an unrealistic expectation that the IRS would direct debit your account instantly after accepting your e-file.  Give it some time and watch your bank account.  Next time you want to pay right away---use the IRS payment site online.
