I retired in August 2016 am I still considered covered by the 401K retirement plan?

Is a 401K considered a qualified retirement plan?

Yes. A 401(k) plan is a qualified retirement plan. Even though you were not employed for the entire year, you are considered as covered by the plan for the entire year.
