Thank you for your guidance. I did not make any contributions but did do a RMD (which is not one the listed triggers for automatic generation). I just entered the IRA basis information (several IRA Account balances, one of which is inherited) and RMD frmo the inherited IRA. I do see the adjusted distribution amount on line 4b of 1040 but cannot see how it was calculated - where can i see how it was calculated?
On the 8606 form, when I click line 2 of 8606 - it goes to the spouse's portion of line 12 of the worksheet - I am entering as a single filer.
After walking thru the help section, Turbotax does not generate the 8606 because the distribution comes from an inherited IRA (even thought there were no deductible contributions were made to it)- that's unfortunate.
Correction - I now see the generated 8606 for taxpayer. it must be due to saving the tax return
